Prepping Pinecones

Tis the season, for pumpkin spice and pinecones that is!  Along with pumpkins I also love adding pinecones to my fall vignette. My favorite aspect of these is they transition well from fall to winter. We live in an area with an abundance pinecones, so I thoroughly enjoy collecting them for our home decor. While their natural beauty brings a touch of the outside in, sometimes they bring some “friends” with them. As much as I love meeting new friends, these critters are unwelcome in my abode. The best and easiest way to assure there are not any uninvited “guests” to your decorating party is to give these cones a bake.
Step One: Preheat oven to 225.

Step Two: Line the dish of choice with aluminum foil.

Step Three: Place pinecones in the dish and bake for 30 minutes.

Step Five: Decorate!

Optional Step: Spray with finishing gloss. This step may be important depending on your decorating use.

Happy decorating!
